Filsysteminteraktion refers to the processes and methods by which computer programs and operating systems interact with the file system. The file system is the structure that an operating system uses to organize and manage files and directories on a storage device. This interaction allows users and applications to create, read, write, delete, and manipulate files and directories.

Key operations in filesystem interaction include opening a file, which establishes a connection to a specific file; reading from a file, which retrieves data from its content; writing to a file, which modifies or adds data; and closing a file, which releases the connection and ensures data integrity. Beyond these basic operations, applications can also perform tasks like seeking to a specific position within a file, truncating a file to a certain size, or renaming and moving files and directories.

Operating systems provide an application programming interface (API) that abstracts the complexities of the underlying storage hardware and file system structure. This API exposes functions that developers can use to interact with the file system in a consistent manner across different storage devices and file system types. Common file system interaction models include hierarchical file systems, where files are organized in a tree-like structure, and object-based file systems.
