FestplattenArrays, also known as hard drive arrays or disk arrays, are collections of multiple hard disk drives working together as a single logical unit. This aggregation is typically managed by hardware or software and serves several primary purposes, including increased data redundancy, improved performance, or both.

One of the most common reasons for implementing a FestplattenArray is data redundancy, often achieved through RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) technology. RAID configurations allow for data to be mirrored across multiple drives, so if one drive fails, the data can still be accessed from another drive in the array. This significantly enhances data availability and protects against data loss.

Another key benefit of FestplattenArrays is performance enhancement.
