Fastonkontakt

Fastonkontakt is a type of electrical contact used in quick-disconnect or push-on connections. It consists of a flat male blade (tab) that mates with a corresponding female receptacle or terminal, allowing fast and tool-free connection and disconnection of conductors in low- to medium-current circuits. The term is commonly used in German-speaking contexts to refer to the family of FASTON or quick-disconnect terminals.

Design and sizes typically include several standard blade widths, such as 2.8 mm, 4.8 mm, 6.3 mm, and 9.5 mm. These sizes correspond to different current ratings and wire gauges, with corresponding female contact housings or insulated sleeves. Fastonkontakte are produced in insulated and non-insulated forms, and are often crimped to conductors using a dedicated crimping tool. Materials are usually copper alloys with tin or nickel plating to resist corrosion and improve conductivity.

The mating action relies on sliding the female contact over the male blade, creating a friction-based connection. Some variants include locking features or retention in a connector housing to prevent accidental disengagement, while others rely on simple friction fit. Fastonkontakt systems are designed for wide compatibility across manufacturers, though specific crimp profiles and housing designs vary.

Common applications include automotive wiring, household appliances, power supplies, and other electronic equipment requiring quick, repeatable connections. Advantages include simplicity, speed, and the ability to assemble without soldering.
