FASTAfiler

FASTAfiler is a cross-platform open-source utility designed to perform rapid, automated file-management tasks across large collections of files. It specializes in batch operations such as renaming, moving, copying, tagging, and indexing, enabling users to organize media libraries, data dumps, and archival sets with minimal manual intervention.

Architecture and performance are central to FASTAfiler. It employs a modular, pipeline-based design that can run multiple stages in parallel, emphasizing streaming I/O and metadata-aware processing to minimize disk seeks and leverage multi-core CPUs. Operations can be composed into pipelines, allowing users to chain transformations and apply complex workflows with predictable results.

Interfaces and usage are designed for flexibility. FASTAfiler is primarily command-line based, with an optional graphical front-end in some distributions.
