Extro

Extro is an informal shorthand used to refer to an extrovert or extroversion. It is commonly found in casual speech and online communication to describe someone who is outgoing, socially energized, and comfortable with attention. The term is not a formal scientific designation; in scholarly writing, extroversion and extrovert are the preferred terms.

In psychology, extroversion is one dimension of personality that contrasts with introversion. People described as high in extroversion tend to enjoy social interaction, seek stimulation, be talkative, and exhibit assertiveness. Those lower in extroversion may prefer solitary activities, require downtime after social engagement, and be more reserved. Extroversion exists on a continuum, and individuals can display varying degrees of sociability depending on context, mood, and culture. Ambiverts lie in the middle, showing both extrovert and introvert traits.

In everyday usage, "extro" often appears in informal writing, social media, or as a nickname or brand-like term. It is typically used to convey a general sense of sociability rather than a precise psychological measurement. When precision is required, however, scholars and clinicians will use the full terms extroversion or extrovert.
