Eukleidese

Eukleidese is a constructed language (conlang) designed to express geometric and mathematical concepts with clarity and precision. It was developed by a collaborative community of language enthusiasts and mathematicians during the 2010s and early 2020s, drawing its name and some terminology from Euclidean geometry. The project aims to provide a stable, learnable medium for technical discourse and fictional or educational texts.

Phonology and writing system: Eukleidese uses a Latin-based alphabet augmented with diacritics to indicate vowel length and quality. The phoneme inventory is relatively simple, with a moderate set of consonants and five basic vowels. The orthography generally represents sounds consistently, and stress is commonly placed on the penultimate syllable, though compound terms may shift stress to the head of the compound.

Grammar and syntax: The language favors an analytic, SVO (subject–verb–object) word order in neutral clauses, with prepositions marking semantic relations rather than case endings. Nouns do not inflect for number beyond a plural marker in some contexts, while pronouns include inclusive and exclusive forms in the first person plural. Verbs encode aspect and mood through auxiliary elements and affixes, allowing precise expression of temporal and epistemic nuance. Adjectives typically follow nouns and can form compounds with nouns.

Lexicon and word formation: Core vocabulary emphasizes geometric, mathematical, and scientific terms, often created by combining Latin or Greek roots with native affixes. New terms are frequently coined through compounding, abbreviations, or the adaptation of established roots. The lexicon also borrows terminology from contemporary languages to cover modern concepts.

Status and usage: Eukleidese remains primarily a community-driven project with online resources, dictionaries, and example texts. It is not widely spoken but serves as a practical tool for mathematical writing, educational materials, and conlang experimentation.
