Ettinghausen

Ettinghausen is a municipality in the district of Mühldorf am Inn in the German state of Bavaria. Located in the region of Upper Bavaria, it lies along the Inn River, approximately 20 kilometers northeast of the district capital Mühldorf am Inn. The community is part of the traditional cultural and historical area known as the Inn Valley.

The history of Ettinghausen dates back to the early Middle Ages, with the first written records appearing in the 12th century. Originally a small settlement, it developed gradually alongside the Inn River, which played a crucial role in trade and transportation. The village was historically part of the Duchy of Bavaria and later the Kingdom of Bavaria. During the Napoleonic Wars, the area experienced temporary French occupation before returning to Bavarian rule.

Ettinghausen is characterized by its rural landscape, featuring farmland, forests, and the scenic Inn River. The municipality covers an area of approximately 13.5 square kilometers and has a population of around 1,500 residents, making it a relatively small community.
