Eryndori

Eryndori is a fictional city-state in the fantasy world of Aralon on the eastern coast of the continent of Virelia. It serves as the capital of the Eryndori Dominion and a major maritime and commercial hub. The city is renowned for its free port status, diverse guilds, and enduring tradition of naval apprenticeship.

Situated at the mouth of the Leth River, the city occupies a natural crescent harbor sheltered by two headlands. It enjoys a temperate maritime climate, with mild winters and relatively dry summers, moderated by steady sea winds.

Eryndori grew from a cluster of guild settlements founded during the Great Migration, rising as a free port that welcomed merchants from across the archipelago. Over centuries it expanded through shipbuilding, glassmaking, and mercantile law, weathering storms and rival port leagues.

The city is governed by the Council of Guilds, an oligarchic body representing the principal trading houses and craft guilds. A Prefect, selected by the Council, chairs the administration and oversees security, taxation, and ports infrastructure.

Eryndori's economy centers on harbor trade, shipyards, glass production, and textiles. The Glass Market and the Meridian Wharf draw merchants from distant shores, while favorable tariffs and strong dispute-resolution practices keep commerce steady.

The population is multilingual, with Eryndori Trade, Common Tongue, and regional dialects spoken alongside scholarly languages. Festivals of the Tide celebrate the harbor's connection to the sea; the city supports academies on navigation, cartography, and maritime law.

Notable sites include the Old Harbor Gate, the Meridian Museum of Trade, and the Spire of Leth, a lighthouse and watchtower that marks the harbor's entrance. The city is bordered by defensive walls and inland orchards sustaining its population.
