Erfolgsbilanz

Erfolgsbilanz is a German term used to describe the record of results achieved by a person, organization, project or investment over a given period. It combines quantitative data such as revenues, profits and key performance indicators with qualitative assessments of milestones, milestones and strategic outcomes. The term is commonly employed in business discourse to summarize performance beyond the formal financial statements.

In corporate reporting, an Erfolgsbilanz may accompany annual reports, management commentary or investor presentations. It focuses on outcomes such as profitability, cash flow, market share, innovation, sustainability metrics, customer satisfaction and risk management, as well as progress toward strategic objectives. It is distinct from, but should be used in conjunction with, formal financial statements like the Bilanz (balance sheet) and Gewinn- und Verlustrechnung (income statement).

In other contexts, including journalism, consulting or personal careers, the term can denote a track record of success. For a company, an Erfolgsbilanz provides a concise review of historical performance; for an executive or professional, it highlights a proven history of achieving targets and delivering results.

Critique and limitations: because an Erfolgsbilanz is often selective and qualitative, it may be biased or incomplete. Credibility improves when it is supported by verifiable data and standardized metrics. Stakeholders may interpret outcomes differently, and comparability across entities or periods can be limited, underscoring the need for clear definitions and transparent methodology.
