Etymology and coinage. The term was coined in Finnish online discourse in the early 2020s, combining enää meaning “no more” with irry as a metaphor for entering or merging into a new space. Its precise linguistic origins are informal and debated. Since its introduction, the concept has been used in academic discussions of platform migration and community resilience.

Characteristics. Key features include continuity of membership, transfer of leadership roles, parallel use of both spaces during transition, cross-posting or bridging content, and stabilization on the new platform over weeks to months. The practice often relies on shared rituals, tags, and norms that survive the move, enabling a sense of continuity despite the change in environment.
