Embriótranszfer

Embriótranszfer, also known as embryo transfer, is a fundamental procedure in assisted reproductive technology (ART) used primarily in in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles. The process involves placing one or more embryos into a woman’s uterus with the intention of establishing a successful pregnancy. It is typically performed after fertilization has occurred outside the body, either through conventional IVF or advanced techniques such as intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

The procedure is generally performed in a clinical setting, often under ultrasound guidance, to ensure precise placement of the embryo(s) within the uterine cavity. Patients may receive hormonal support, such as progesterone, to prepare the uterine lining for implantation. The timing of the transfer is carefully coordinated with the stage of embryo development—whether it is a blastocyst (a later-stage embryo) or a day-3 or day-5 embryo—to maximize the chances of implantation.

Embriótranszfer is considered a relatively simple and low-risk procedure, though success rates depend on various factors, including the quality of the embryos, the age and health of the woman, and the expertise of the medical team. Multiple embryo transfers were historically common to increase the likelihood of pregnancy, but modern practices often favor single embryo transfers to reduce the risk of multiple pregnancies, which can pose complications for both mother and children.

Patients undergoing embryo transfer may experience mild discomfort or cramping, but the procedure itself is quick, usually taking only a few minutes. Follow-up monitoring, including blood tests to measure hormone levels, helps assess whether implantation has occurred. If successful, the embryo implants in the uterine lining, leading to pregnancy. Embriótranszfer plays a critical role in helping individuals and couples achieve parenthood through assisted reproductive technologies.
