Elektroniikkakytkennät, known in English as electronic circuits, are pathways for electric current. They are fundamental to all electronic devices and are composed of various electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, transistors, and integrated circuits. These components are interconnected to perform a specific function, like amplifying a signal, switching current, or processing information.

The design of an electronic circuit involves understanding the behavior of its constituent components and how they interact. This is often done using circuit diagrams, which are schematic representations of the circuit. Analyzing a circuit can involve using mathematical laws like Ohm's law and Kirchhoff's laws to predict its behavior under different conditions.

Electronic circuits can be broadly categorized into analog and digital circuits. Analog circuits deal with continuous signals that vary over time, such as those found in audio amplifiers or radio receivers. Digital circuits, on the other hand, work with discrete signals that represent binary values (0s and 1s), forming the basis of computers and microprocessors.

The physical implementation of electronic circuits can take various forms. Breadboards are often used for prototyping and testing circuits due to their ease of modification. For more permanent applications, circuits are typically manufactured on printed circuit boards (PCBs), where conductive pathways are etched onto a non-conductive substrate. Surface-mount technology (SMT) and through-hole technology are two common methods for attaching components to PCBs.

The study and development of electronic circuits are crucial for innovation in fields ranging from telecommunications and consumer electronics to industrial automation and medical devices.
