Elektroluminescent is a term describing electroluminescence, a phenomenon where a material emits light in response to an electric current passed through it. This is distinct from incandescence, which involves heat. Elektroluminescent materials, often thin films or coatings, are typically composed of phosphors embedded within a dielectric material.
