Elafins
Elafins are a group of small, elongated, cartilaginous fish belonging to the order Elopiformes. This order also includes the closely related tarpons. Elafins are characterized by their single, long dorsal fin, typically with many rays, and a forked tail fin. Their bodies are usually silvery and compressed. They are marine fish found in tropical and subtropical waters worldwide, inhabiting coastal areas, estuaries, and sometimes entering freshwater environments.
