Eisbahn
An Eisbahn, or ice rink, is a dedicated surface of ice used for skating and ice-based sports. It can be outdoor or indoor. Outdoor Eisbahnen may rely on natural ice formed by cold winter temperatures, or on artificially produced ice created with refrigeration systems when weather is insufficient. Indoor Eisbahnen are climate-controlled facilities that keep a consistent ice surface through artificial cooling, allowing skating to take place year-round or during seasons with milder weather. Ice is maintained by regular resurfacing, typically with a motorized machine such as a Zamboni, which shaves the rough surface and lays down a thin layer of fresh water.

Historically, Eisbahnen have played a central role in winter recreation in German-speaking regions. Outdoor rinks were
