Eightmonthold, often written eight-month-old, refers to an infant who is about eight months old after birth. Development at this age varies widely, but common patterns emerge in mobility, communication, and feeding.

Motor: Many eight-month-olds can sit without support for extended periods and begin to crawl, scoot, or roll to move. They may reach for objects with improved accuracy, transfer items between hands, and explore by banging or shaking toys. A pincer grasp and precise pinching typically appear a little later, closer to nine or ten months.

Feeding: Breast milk or formula remains central, with solids gradually added as complementary foods. Textures progress from smooth purees to mashed or finely chopped foods, and babies may begin self-feeding with soft finger foods under supervision.

Sleep: Daily sleep totals typically 12 to 16 hours, with two to three daytime naps. Sleep patterns vary; some infants sleep through the night, others wake briefly.

Communication and social: Babbling increases, often with repetitive syllables. They respond to their name, enjoy social games, and may show stranger anxiety or preference for familiar caregivers.

Safety and health: Baby-proofing is essential; keep small objects, cords, and liquids out of reach. Use appropriate car seats and supervise feeding to reduce choking risk. Regular checkups and vaccines according to local guidelines support growth.
