EcoBoost
EcoBoost is a line of turbocharged, direct-injected gasoline engines developed by Ford Motor Company. Introduced in 2009 as part of Ford’s strategy to combine performance with improved fuel economy, EcoBoost engines use downsized displacement, turbocharging, and direct injection to deliver strong torque and power while reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared with larger naturally aspirated engines of similar output.
Technology and design features commonly associated with EcoBoost engines include turbochargers, gasoline direct injection, variable valve
History and scope: EcoBoost was launched in 2009 with models such as the Ford Focus and Fiesta
Performance and considerations: EcoBoost engines are designed to offer higher specific output and improved fuel economy
