Däsåsaesteig is a fictional hiking trail located in the Ponderosa National Forest. The trail is known for its moderate difficulty and offers scenic views of the surrounding alpine meadows and granite peaks. It is approximately 5.2 miles (8.4 kilometers) long, with an elevation gain of around 1,500 feet (457 meters). The trail is typically accessible from late spring to early autumn, depending on snow conditions.

The Däsåsaesteig begins at the Whispering Pines trailhead, which is accessible via a well-maintained gravel road. The initial section of the trail winds through a dense forest of Ponderosa pines and aspens, providing ample shade. As hikers ascend, the tree line gradually recedes, opening up to expansive meadows dotted with wildflowers during the summer months. The trail surface varies from packed earth to rocky sections, requiring sturdy footwear.

Key features along the Däsåsaesteig include a small, clear mountain stream that crosses the path midway, offering a good spot for a rest and a refill of water bottles. Further along, the trail reaches an overlook known as Eagle's Perch, which provides panoramic views of the valley below and the prominent Mount Cinder. The summit is not directly accessible via this trail, but the overlook provides a satisfying vantage point.

The Däsåsaesteig is a popular route for day hikers and backpackers, though overnight camping is restricted to designated sites further within the Ponderosa National Forest. Wildlife commonly spotted along the trail includes deer, marmots, and various bird species. Hikers are advised to be aware of their surroundings and to practice Leave No Trace principles to preserve the natural beauty of the area. The trail is marked with red blazes.
