Duhsasana

Duhsasana was a prominent Kaurava prince in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. He was the second of the 100 sons of King Dhritarashtra and Queen Gandhari, and the younger brother of the eldest Kaurava prince, Duryodhana. Duhsasana is primarily remembered for his pivotal role in the disrobing of Draupadi, the wife of the Pandavas, during a rigged dice game orchestrated by Duryodhana.

In this infamous incident, after Yudhishthira lost Draupadi in the dice game, Duhsasana, at Duryodhana's command, dragged Draupadi by her hair into the assembly hall and attempted to strip her of her clothes. Draupadi, a devoted wife, prayed fervently to Lord Krishna, who is said to have miraculously protected her honor by endlessly extending her sari. This act of brutality and insult deeply angered Draupadi and the Pandavas, becoming a significant contributing factor to the Kurukshetra War.

Duhsasana was a formidable warrior and a loyal follower of Duryodhana. Throughout the Mahabharata, he consistently supported his elder brother's unjust actions and participated fiercely in battles. During the Kurukshetra War, Duhsasana fought bravely but was eventually killed by Bhima, the second Pandava brother. Bhima, vowing vengeance for the humiliation of Draupadi, fought Duhsasana in a fierce duel and, after defeating him, tore open his chest and drank his blood, fulfilling his terrible oath. Duhsasana's character represents the cruel and arrogant nature often associated with the Kaurava side.
