Dispositioner

Dispositioner is a term used to describe an actor, either human or automated, that determines the disposition of items, cases, or resources. The name reflects the role: to decide what should happen next to a given object or situation, according to policy, data, and available options.

In logistics and inventory management, a dispositioner decides actions for units such as whether to store, ship, quarantine, return, refurbish, recycle, or scrap. It may route items to warehouses, suppliers, customers, or disposal streams based on predefined rules, quality data, and current demand or constraints.

In case management and customer service, a dispositioner assigns outcomes to cases or interactions, labeling them as resolved, escalated, pending, or closed, and triggering subsequent workflows, notifications, or tasks for agents.

In records management, compliance, and asset management, a dispositioner may implement disposition plans that specify retention periods, archiving, deletion, or transfer of assets and documents, ensuring adherence to legal and organizational policies.

In software and workflow contexts, dispositioner components often function as automated decision points that map cases to next steps, integrate with business rules engines, and keep audit trails for accountability.
