Dieselinboard is a term used to describe a compact, modular diesel propulsion and power-generation unit designed to be integrated as a single, board-like module in vehicles, vessels, or remote installations. The unit combines a diesel internal combustion engine, a drive or coupling mechanism, a generator or propulsion gearbox, autonomous or semi-autonomous control electronics, and an integrated cooling system within a sealed, serviceable enclosure. Its form factor emphasizes standardized mounting interfaces, quick-connect electrical and fuel lines, and simplified maintenance.

In operation, dieselinboard modules are typically started and controlled by a dedicated engine management system that coordinates fuel delivery, air intake, exhaust aftertreatment, and load management. Some configurations include optional hybrid capability, allowing the module to pair with energy storage or auxiliary motors for improved efficiency and reduced peak loads.
