Continuous integration involves merging code changes from multiple developers into a shared repository frequently, followed by automated builds and tests. Continuous delivery automates the release of tested code to a repository, while continuous deployment automatically deploys every change that passes all stages of the production pipeline. Infrastructure as code uses machine-readable definition files to automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure, treating infrastructure like software. Monitoring provides visibility into application performance and system health. Collaboration is fostered through shared responsibility and open communication channels.

The adoption of DevOps practices aims to improve an organization's ability to deliver applications and services at high velocity, evolve and improve products at a faster pace than with traditional software development and infrastructure management processes, and achieve greater efficiency and reliability.
