Deloitte

Deloitte is a multinational professional services network and one of the world’s leading professional services firms, commonly grouped with PwC, EY, and KPMG as part of the Big Four. The Deloitte network consists of member firms in more than 150 countries and territories, offering services in audit and assurance, consulting, financial advisory, risk management, and tax. The network operates under the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL) umbrella, a UK private company limited by guarantee, with each member firm operating as an independent legal entity under the Deloitte brand in its jurisdiction.

History and structure. Deloitte traces its origins to William Welch Deloitte, who established the practice in London in 1845. Through a series of mergers and reorganizations in the 20th century, the firm became part of the global entity known as Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. In the 1990s the global brand was consolidated to Deloitte, while DTTL remains the coordinating umbrella for member firms. The member firms are legally separate and independently owned and managed, but share a common brand, standards, and quality controls.

Services and sectors. Deloitte provides services across four main areas: Audit and Assurance, Consulting, Financial Advisory, and Tax and Legal, along with specialized offerings in risk advisory and technology-enabled services. The firm serves clients in diverse industries, including financial services, public sector, manufacturing, technology, media, telecommunications, and energy, across public and private sectors.

Governance and workforce. Deloitte is led by a Global CEO and a Global Board, with day-to-day work carried out by the member firms. The network emphasizes professional standards, thought leadership, and corporate responsibility, and it publishes research and reports on business trends, governance, and sustainability.
