Delidéer

Delidéer, a Swedish term literally meaning “partial ideas,” are discrete, self-contained ideas used to break down a larger problem or concept. They function as building blocks in ideation, design thinking, and early-stage product development, allowing teams to explore multiple directions in a modular and testable way.

A delidé is typically small enough to be described briefly and evaluated on its own merits. Each delidé should be concrete, with a clear user focus, a defined value proposition, and identifiable requirements or risks. Because they are self-contained, delidéer can be developed in parallel and later combined or recombined to form a complete concept or project plan.

The main purpose of using delidéer is to enable rapid iteration, collaboration, and prioritization. By generating and assessing many partial ideas, teams can compare potential impact, required resources, and feasibility, while spotting interdependencies and conflicts early. This modular approach supports experimentation, feedback integration, and risk management.

In practice, delidéer are often captured on simple cards or templates that summarize core elements such as the user problem, the proposed solution, expected benefits, and success criteria. They are evaluated against predefined criteria and can be merged, expanded, or discarded based on learnings from testing and stakeholder input.

Delidéer are commonly employed in education, workshops, and business settings, where they complement other ideation tools like concept sketches and user journeys. They emphasize process over final form, guiding teams toward a coherent full concept through iterative refinement and integration.
