Decompressionre is a term that refers to the process of returning to normal atmospheric pressure after a period spent at a higher pressure. This is most commonly encountered in scenarios involving diving, whether recreational scuba diving or professional commercial diving, and also in high-altitude aviation and space exploration. The primary concern with decompressionre is to prevent decompression sickness, often referred to as "the bends."

Decompression sickness occurs when dissolved gases, primarily nitrogen from the breathing gas, come out of solution in the body's tissues and form bubbles as the ambient pressure decreases. This can lead to a range of symptoms, from joint pain and skin rash to paralysis and even death, depending on the severity and location of the bubbles. To avoid this, divers and others exposed to increased pressure follow specific decompressionre schedules. These schedules involve ascending gradually to the surface with controlled stops at predetermined depths for specific durations. These stops allow the dissolved gases in the body to be safely eliminated through respiration.

The principles of decompressionre are based on Henry's Law, which states that the amount of gas dissolved in a liquid is proportional to the partial pressure of that gas above the liquid. Modern decompressionre techniques are often aided by dive computers, which calculate the necessary ascent rates and decompression stops based on depth, time, and breathing gas composition. Improper decompressionre can have serious health consequences, highlighting the importance of thorough training and adherence to established protocols.
