DOCP

DOCP, or Direct Over Clock Profile, is a memory overclocking profile option used on AMD-based motherboards to configure RAM speeds, timings, and voltage. It provides an automated way to run memory at the factory-rated speeds stored in the memory module’s SPD, similar in purpose to Intel’s XMP profiles.

The feature is designed to simplify memory overclocking on systems using AMD processors and chipsets. When DOCP is enabled in the BIOS/UEFI, the motherboard reads a profile stored on the RAM module and applies the corresponding frequency, timings, and voltage settings. This can allow memory to operate at higher speeds than the standard JEDEC defaults without manual tuning. Several motherboard vendors present DOCP profiles alongside or instead of XMP profiles, sometimes with multiple levels (for example, DOCP levels that correspond to different rated speeds).

DOCP is functionally equivalent to XMP, in that both provide manufacturer-provided profiles for achieving higher memory performance. The main difference is terminology and BIOS labeling, which varies by platform and motherboard brand. Not all memory modules support DOCP, and actual stability at a given profile depends on the memory, motherboard, CPU, and cooling. In some cases, users may need to adjust voltage or timings beyond what the DOCP profile specifies to achieve stable operation, or may choose a lower profile if instability persists.

In practice, DOCP is commonly used to enable high-performance RAM configurations on AMD systems, offering a straightforward path to utilize memory rated above standard specifications without extensive manual tuning.
