Cystocarcinoma is a term that can refer to a malignant tumor that arises from the epithelium of a cyst. This means it is a cancerous growth that originates within a sac-like structure filled with fluid or semi-solid material. The specific type of cystocarcinoma depends on the location and cell type of the original cyst.

For example, cystadenocarcinoma is a type of malignant cyst characterized by cystic spaces lined by glandular epithelium. These tumors are most commonly found in the ovary, pancreas, and other glandular organs. Ovarian cystadenocarcinoma is a significant cause of gynecological cancer. Pancreatic cystadenocarcinoma can present as either serous or mucinous subtypes, each with different prognoses.

The term "cystocarcinoma" itself is less commonly used as a standalone diagnosis in modern medical literature and is often superseded by more specific classifications such as cystadenocarcinoma or by descriptions of the primary tumor type with cystic features.
