Coversyl

Coversyl is a brand name for perindopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor used in the management of cardiovascular conditions. It is commonly prescribed in oral tablet form in various strengths. Perindopril itself is a prodrug that is converted in the body to the active metabolite perindoprilat, which inhibits ACE and reduces the production of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and lower blood pressure.

The primary indications are hypertension and symptomatic heart failure, with potential use in other cardiovascular settings as determined by a clinician. In some regimens, perindopril may be used in combination with a diuretic or as part of post–myocardial infarction therapy, depending on regional guidelines and patient needs.

Common adverse effects resemble those of other ACE inhibitors and include dizziness or lightheadedness, cough, and fatigue. Cautions when using Coversyl include monitoring kidney function and potassium levels, especially in patients with renal impairment or those taking other medicines that influence potassium.
