Etymology: The name is commonly linked to the ancient Coruli language, with scholars proposing meanings related to 'crest' or 'ford.' In-world legends describe Corule as a place where river and hill meet.

History: The earliest records date from the 14th century, when Corule began as a fortified outpost and market town. It expanded through timber, grain, and metallurgical crafts. The town survived a series of regional conflicts and later developed a network of canals and mills.

Geography and demographics: Corule covers a compact urban core of about 8 square kilometers, with a surrounding rural belt totaling roughly 32 square kilometers. The current fictional population is placed around 12,000–15,000 residents.

Economy and infrastructure: The economy centers on agriculture, timber, and artisanal crafts, complemented by small manufacturing and local services. Transportation links include a river port on the Serene and a narrow-gauge railway; the town is connected to nearby markets by a ring road.
