Correctiepennen

Correctiepennen, also known as correction fluid or white-out, are writing instruments used to cover errors made in ink. They typically contain a white, opaque pigment suspended in a solvent. When applied to paper, the solvent evaporates, leaving behind a solid, white layer that can be written over once dry. Correctiepennen are commonly used in offices, schools, and by individuals for making corrections on documents.

The active ingredients in most correction fluids are titanium dioxide, which provides the opacity, and a solvent such as trichloroethane or 1,1,1-trichloroethane. These solvents allow the fluid to flow smoothly and evaporate quickly. However, due to environmental and health concerns associated with some of these solvents, many modern correctiepennen use alternative, less toxic solvent systems.

Correction fluid is often dispensed from a small bottle with an applicator brush or a pen-like tip. Some products are also available in tape form, which offers a neater and faster application without the need for drying time. While effective for many types of ink, correction fluid may not completely cover certain dark or glossy inks. It is generally not recommended for use on official documents where alterations are prohibited.
