Coregulatory
Coregulatory is an adjective describing processes that are regulated in conjunction by two or more regulators, systems, or agents. In scientific usage, it refers to mechanisms in which the activity of one component is coordinated with another to produce a shared outcome. The term is applied across disciplines such as genetics, neuroscience, and developmental psychology, among others.
In genetics, coregulatory refers to networks in which groups of genes are regulated together by common transcription
In neuroscience and physiology, coregulatory processes describe how neural circuits, hormonal axes, and autonomic systems jointly
In developmental psychology and social science, coregulatory or co-regulation describes how caregivers and children regulate emotions
Research methods to study coregulatory patterns include network analysis, time-series correlation, and multimodal imaging or omics
