Convertibileja are vehicles equipped with a roof that can be folded, retracted, or removed to create an open-top driving experience. The term is used in Finnish automotive vocabulary to describe cars whose tops can be stored away, and it covers both soft-top and hardtop configurations as well as models with removable panels.

Soft-top convertibles have a fabric or vinyl roof that folds manually or by power mechanism, typically stowing behind the rear seats. Hardtop convertibles use a metal roof that folds into multiple segments or into an integrated trunk compartment. Some models feature a retractable glass roof or a removable roof panel, which can alter luggage space and rigidity.

Historically, convertibles evolved from early open-bodied roadsters and phaeton designs in the early 1900s, gaining popularity in the mid-20th century. Advances in structural reinforcement and safety systems expanded their appeal. In recent decades, the market has seen a diversification of sizes and price points, with sport, luxury, and daily-driver variants.

Usage and market considerations include weather and climate impact on open-top driving, maintenance costs, and potential compromises in rigidity, weight, and trunk space. In Finland and other northern countries, convertibileja are more common as seasonal or weekend vehicles.
