Concessionären is a person or company that holds the rights granted under a concession contract to operate a defined business or service within a specified area and for a set period. The granting authority, which may be a government body, a municipality, or a private owner, assigns exclusive or prioritized rights to the concessionären in return for payments such as fees or royalties and for meeting specified performance obligations.
