Clemson University, commonly known simply as Clemson, is a public land-grant research university in Clemson, South Carolina. Founded in 1889 by Thomas Green Clemson, it opened in 1893 as Clemson Agricultural College of South Carolina and was renamed Clemson University in 1964. The university serves tens of thousands of students and emphasizes engineering, sciences, business, and humanities across its multiple colleges.
