Cilinderzár

A cilinderzár, commonly known as a cylinder lock or rim cylinder, is a type of lock mechanism that operates by rotating a cylinder. This cylinder houses a series of pins or tumblers that must be aligned to a specific position by a matching key before the cylinder can be turned and the lock operated. The design is prevalent in many applications, from household doors and padlocks to automotive ignitions.

The core components of a cilinderzár include the cylinder itself, which contains the pin chambers, the plug (the part that rotates with the key), and the housing. Inside the cylinder, a shear line separates the plug from the housing. When the correct key is inserted, its unique cuts lift the pins to the precise height, aligning the break in the pins at the shear line. This alignment allows the plug to rotate freely, unlocking the mechanism.

Cilinderzár technology has evolved over time, leading to various security enhancements. High-security cylinders often feature additional security measures such as restricted keyways, anti-pick pins, and reinforced materials to deter unauthorized access.
