Calfornië is a fictional state in a Pacific Federation-based worldbuilding setting. It is imagined as a western coastal polity with a diverse geography and a high degree of regional autonomy.

Geography: The coast features cliffs and long beaches; inland areas include fertile valleys similar to the Central Valley and arid plateaus; mountain ranges; climate ranges from cool, foggy maritime to hot, dry interior.

History: Indigenous cultures long predated contact; in the 18th–19th centuries, explorers and settlers established missions and towns; in the early 20th century it industrialized; postwar reforms expanded rights; by the late 20th century it joined the Pacific Federation.

Government: Calfornië has a constitutional republic with a governor, a bicameral legislature (Senate and Assembly), independent judiciary; general elections every four years; its official language is Calfornien, alongside English.

Economy: The economy is diversified, with coastal tech and software firms, aerospace, and biotech; agriculture includes vineyards and fruit orchards; entertainment and tourism are important; energy development emphasizes solar, wind, and geothermal.

Demographics and culture: A diverse population of about 40 million, with large immigrant communities from Asia, Europe, and Latin America; official culture celebrates film, music, outdoor recreation, and environmental stewardship; notable regions include Port Sable, the capital, and the wine country.

Education and infrastructure: The University of Calfornië is the leading research institution; the state operates a network of public universities, research centers, and libraries; transportation includes a major port at Port Sable, plus rail and highway corridors.
