CR2025

CR2025 is a type of primary lithium coin cell battery. It has a nominal voltage of 3.0 volts and a cylindrical coin shape with a diameter of 20.0 mm and a thickness of 2.5 mm. The “CR” designation indicates a lithium/manganese dioxide chemistry, with a lithium anode and a manganese dioxide cathode, in an organic electrolyte. It is non-rechargeable and should not be recharged or reused after discharge.

Typical capacity for a CR2025 is around 150 mAh at low drain, but actual capacity varies with current draw and temperature. Higher current drains significantly reduce available capacity. The cell is designed for long shelf life and reliable performance in low-drain devices.

Common uses for CR2025 batteries include watches, calculators, remote controls, car keys, key fobs, medical devices, and small handheld electronics. Because of its thinner profile, it is often chosen for devices with limited space, though it is not interchangeable with thicker coin cells in all applications.

Safety and handling notes: avoid short circuits, puncture, or exposure to high temperatures. Do not attempt to recharge a CR2025. Keep batteries away from children and pets. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Disposal should follow local regulations; many areas require recycling of lithium coin cells.

In devices that require a different size, CR2032 or other coin cells are sometimes substituted only if the device manufacturer specifies compatibility, as thickness and capacity differ.
