CDAC

Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) is a premier Indian research and development organization under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Established in 1988, its mandate is to advance high-performance computing and related advanced computing capabilities, and to translate research into practical IT solutions for government and industry.

CDAC operates a national network of centers with the headquarters in Pune and additional sites across India, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Noida, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kolkata. The organization conducts research, develops software and hardware technologies, and provides services to government agencies, educational institutions, and the private sector. It also runs training programs to build IT and HPC skills and supports technology transfer to industry.

The agency is best known for its work in high-performance computing, notably through its Param series of supercomputers and associated software ecosystems. CDAC contributes to national initiatives in HPC, including programs aimed at expanding computing capabilities for research, governance, and industry. Beyond HPC, the institute works in areas such as cyber security, health informatics, language and Indic computing, grid and cloud computing, and e-governance solutions.

CDAC's activities span research, prototype development, productization, and deployment of IT solutions for public sector use. It collaborates with government bodies, academic institutions, and industry partners to promote innovation, capacity building, and technology transfer within India's digital economy.
