CAPG2

CAPG2, also known as cytoskeleton-associated protein 6, is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the CAPG2 gene. This gene is part of the CAP family of genes, which are involved in various cellular processes such as cytoskeleton organization and function.

The CAPG2 protein is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and has a role in cell migration. It has also been implicated in the regulation of the actin cytoskeleton, which is necessary for cell movement. Research has indicated that CAPG2 interacts with p21-activated kinase 1 to affect this cytoskeleton activity. Furthermore, this enzyme contributes to the intestinal changes associated with aging or stress, as suggested by its implication in the regulation of apoptosis in this organ.

Additionally, research on the mouse equivalent of CAPG2, which is also known as migrating anti-target glial cell lines, says that the area of this protein is localized at the unilateral tissue reaction specially at the cytoplasm of these migrating cells. This complex controls elements of axonal targeting or change in embryo stages, inside dorsal root ganglia from peripheral nervous system cells.

Studies focusing on this gene frequently correlate the function of proteins encoded by this gene also work with transcription factors such as HoxB1 during the spatial patterning of the nervous system in human. Investigations have confirmed that this is part of a microRNA mini cluster that functions together in terms of growth factor selective splicing and signal transduction pathways in epithelial cell tranformation.
