Båttype refers to the classification of watercraft based on their design, purpose, and construction. This categorization helps in understanding the diverse range of vessels that navigate the world's waterways. Different types of boats are suited for specific activities, from leisure and sport to commerce and transportation.

Common broad categories include recreational boats, which are often used for fishing, watersports, or simply enjoying time on the water. These can range from small rowboats and kayaks to larger yachts and motorboats.
