Bushdwellers

Bushdwellers is a broad and sometimes pejorative term used to describe people who live in or derive their livelihood from forests or other sparsely populated wilderness areas. This term is not a formal anthropological or sociological classification and can encompass a wide range of distinct cultural groups and individuals with diverse lifestyles.

Historically, the term has often been applied to indigenous peoples who have traditionally lived in forested regions, such as parts of the Amazon rainforest, central Africa, or Southeast Asia. Their subsistence typically relies on hunting, gathering, and small-scale agriculture.

In a more contemporary context, "bushdweller" can also refer to individuals or small communities who choose to live in remote, undeveloped areas, often seeking a simpler or more self-sufficient lifestyle away from urban centers. This can include homesteaders, off-grid communities, or individuals who have intentionally moved to wilderness settings.

The term can carry negative connotations, implying backwardness or isolation. It is important to recognize that "bushdweller" is a generalization and does not accurately represent the complexity or diversity of the people it purports to describe.
