Bultverktyg (bolt tools) refers to tools designed to assemble, tighten, loosen, or remove bolted connections. The term encompasses a broad range of hand tools that engage bolt heads and nuts and are used across automotive, industrial, construction, and maintenance work. Proper use of bolt tools helps ensure fastening reliability, safety, and repeatability in assembled joints.

Common categories include wrenches and spanners (open-end, box-end, combination, adjustable), socket and ratchet systems, and torque tools for controlling applied torque. Power tools such as impact wrenches extend reach to dense or rusted fasteners. For cutting and removing bolts, bolt cutters and bolt extractors are used. In addition, thread preparation and inspection tools—thread gauges, taps and dies, thread files—assist with correct engagement of bolts and nuts.

Selection depends on bolt size, thread pitch, drive type (square, hex in the ratchet or power tool), torque requirements, material and finish of the tool, and compatibility with standards (ISO metric, UNC/UNF, or other national standards). Tools are typically made from hardened steel and may feature chrome plating or other coatings. Calibration is important for torque wrenches; regular verification keeps accuracy within tolerance.

Safety considerations include proper fit on fasteners to avoid rounding, using correct torque values, wearing eye protection, and avoiding shortcuts that could slip or strip threads. Regular maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, rust prevention, and proper storage extends tool life.
