Budgetbalance refers to the state where a government's expenditures do not exceed its revenues within a fiscal period. This implies that the total amount of money a government collects through taxes, fees, and other sources is equal to or greater than the total amount it spends on public services, infrastructure, and other operational costs. Achieving budgetbalance is often a primary goal of fiscal policy, as it is generally seen as a sign of sound financial management.

A budget that is balanced can contribute to economic stability. When a government spends more than it earns, it typically needs to borrow money, leading to an increase in national debt. High levels of debt can, in turn, lead to higher interest payments, potentially crowding out other public spending and creating long-term fiscal challenges. However, maintaining a perfect budget balance can be complex.
