The primary goal was not simply tourism, but a structured experience designed to broaden horizons, impart cultural understanding, and foster a mature, well-rounded individual.

These journeys often involved extensive travel across Europe, with destinations like Italy, France, and Greece being particularly favored for their classical and artistic heritage.
