Belmontin

Belmontin is a small town in the Veridian Highlands, located along the Verdan River in the country of Veridia. The town covers about 12 square kilometers and sits at roughly 120 meters above sea level. It has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons and moderate rainfall that supports apple orchards and dairy farming in the surrounding countryside.

Founded around 1650 by settlers from the lowlands, Belmontin grew as a farming and trading center after the construction of a regional canal in the late 18th century. The historic core preserves many 19th‑century brick and stone buildings, and the town center remains a focal point for markets and local festivals.

The economy is primarily agricultural, with apples and dairy production dominating the countryside. Small-scale manufacturing, especially wood products, and local services complement farming. Tourism centers on the preserved town center, river trails, and historic landmarks.

Belmontin is governed by a town council within Veridia’s municipal framework. As of the latest census, the population is about 7,500, with residents predominantly affiliated with the Veridian cultural group and Veridian as the main language; English is commonly spoken as a second language. The town has two primary schools, a secondary school, and a public library. Transportation links include Regional Highway 7 and scheduled bus services, with the nearest rail station about 12 kilometers away.

Landmarks include the Church of St. Mary, the old Belmontin Mill ruins, and the Market Square. An annual Harvest Festival draws residents and visitors to celebrate local produce and crafts.
