Badarmaturen

Badarmaturen, commonly translated as bathroom fittings, are devices that control the flow and temperature of water in bathrooms. They encompass taps and faucets for sinks and baths, basin and bath mixers, shower valves, thermostatic controls, diverters, hand showers, and accompanying components such as spouts, hoses, and escutcheons. They can be mounted on walls, decks, or freestanding fixtures and are connected to hot and cold water supplies.

Types and features: Basin mixers come in single-lever and dual-handle designs. Bath and shower mixers blend hot and cold water for comfortable temperatures, with thermostatic variants offering constant temperature even when supply pressures fluctuate. Diverters switch water between outlets (shower, bath, overhead). Some fittings include built-in water-saving aerators, anti-scald mechanisms, quick-connect hoses, and pull-out spray heads.

Materials and finishes: Bodies are typically brass or brass alloys with corrosion resistance; finishes range from chrome-plated to nickel, brass, or PVD coatings. Internal components often use ceramic discs, elastomer seals, and brass stems for durability.

Installation and regulation: Professional installation is recommended to ensure proper fit and sealing and to avoid leaks. Connectors are commonly 1/2 inch (15 mm) or 3/8 inch (10 mm) sizes. In Europe, products generally comply with CE marking and local water-usage standards; many models feature anti-scald thermostats to meet safety requirements.

Maintenance: Regular cleaning to prevent lime scale, periodic replacement of cartridges or seals, and inspection for leaks extend service life. Finishes should be dried to prevent corrosion, and aerators can be cleaned or replaced to maintain flow and efficiency.
