Axialwing
Axialwing is a term used in some aeronautical design discussions to describe a class of wing concepts in which the lifting surface is oriented or distributed with reference to the aircraft’s longitudinal axis, rather than following the conventional spanwise planform of a typical wing. In practice, there are informal variations of the idea, including concepts that either align the planform more closely with the axis or employ multiple axis-aligned elements along the fuselage to generate lift.
Design principles and variations of axialwing concepts are typically explored in the context of advances in
Status and applications: Axialwing remains mostly in the realm of theoretical work, wind-tunnel testing, and early-stage
