Auswerfer

Auswerfer is a mechanical device used to eject a finished part from a tool, mold, or die after a forming operation. The term comes from German roots meaning to throw out.

In manufacturing, Auswerfer appear in plastic injection molding, die casting, metal stamping, and related forming processes. They may be an array of ejector pins, an ejector plate, or a powered actuator. Their primary purpose is to overcome part sticking and ensure consistent release without damage.

Operation typically involves extending the ejector elements to push the part clear as the tool opens, and retracting them when the tool closes for the next cycle. Ejector pins or plates are driven by springs, hydraulic, or pneumatic actuation. In stamping and forming, stripper mechanisms may also contribute to ejecting the blank.

Design considerations include adequate ejector stroke and force for the part geometry and material, as well as pin diameter, wear resistance, and precise alignment to avoid damage. The ejector layout should not interfere with cooling, runners, or gates, and regular maintenance is important to prevent sticking or wear.
