Astrometeorology is a field that explores potential correlations between celestial phenomena and terrestrial weather patterns. It draws inspiration from ancient astrological beliefs that suggested a link between the positions of stars and planets and earthly events, including weather. Modern astrometeorology often examines data such as solar cycles, lunar phases, planetary alignments, and cosmic ray flux to see if any predictive relationships with weather can be identified.

The scientific validity of astrometeorology is a subject of debate. While some researchers in this area propose that certain celestial influences, such as variations in solar activity, might have a measurable impact on Earth's climate and weather systems, mainstream meteorology and climatology generally consider these connections to be weak or unsubstantiated by robust evidence. Established meteorological science relies on atmospheric physics, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics to explain and predict weather, focusing on factors like solar radiation, atmospheric pressure, temperature, and moisture.

Proponents of astrometeorology may point to observed patterns or anecdotal evidence, while critics often highlight the lack of reproducible results and the difficulty in isolating celestial influences from the myriad of other complex factors that drive weather. The field remains on the fringes of scientific consensus, with much of its work not adhering to the rigorous methodologies typically required for widespread scientific acceptance. Therefore, while the concept of astrometeorology exists, its findings are not integrated into standard weather forecasting practices.
