Arthritis is a general term for conditions that affect the joints, causing pain, inflammation, stiffness, and reduced mobility. The term "arthritistyyppinen" is primarily used in Finnish to describe the categorization of these conditions into specific subtypes.

The most common types of arthritis include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout. Osteoarthritis, often referred to as degenerative joint disease, is the most prevalent form and typically results from wear and tear on the joints over time. It commonly affects weight-bearing joints such as the knees, hips, and spine, as well as the hands and fingers.
